HISTORY WAS MADE!

Hello basketball world it’s your TopBallerz writer Jamaal (Big Shaq) Folston bringing you another chapter from the Redemption Season story. This past sat @ 8pm it went down history was made in the ABA as The Ct TopBallerz invaded Jersey to take on the Jersey Express @Centenary College in the ABA'S FIRST nationally televised game since the days of Dr. J & Moses Malone. Pregame festivities kicked off with announcing of both team rosters & former NBA Champ Kareem Rush (Lakers) performed national anthem plus game was being streamed online. The first quarter started out bad for the Topballerz as they couldn’t find an answer for the smooth outside shooting of 6'5 guard Ja'Shon Mixon (Monroe College) as he netted 17 first quarter pts with 2 deep balls past NBA range. The Express jumped out early due to the size advantage they had over the Topballerz with a frontline of 6'9 6'8 & 6'10. Bobby (The Legend) Moore stopped the onslaught for a while but lack of boxing out killed the Topballerz and had head coach John Kemp in a frenzy on the sideline for his ABA debut. Most of the first half was controlled by The Jersey Express with an outstanding 10-2 edge on the offensive glass. Late in the second quarter Topballerz seem to stop the onslaught as they trail 76-49 @ halftime. The halftime show was great as Anthem an up & coming artist performed followed by the UBC-MIX Dancers. Coach Kemp lit into players in locker room and made some changes to lineup and it seemed like right choice cause Topballerz came out in 3rd quarter with tenacious defense despite foul calls and steady offense from Andre Deflorimonte (New York) & Mercury Fiske (Mitchell College) they paced the Topballerz & @ one point the lead was cut to 12 but once again no boxing out played a difference as Jersey Express man in the middle Bill McDonough controlled the boards n made 6 straight rim rattling baskets in a row finishing with game high 28 pts & 13rbs. Fourth quarter comes & Topballerz had some bright spots like George Bradford Jr. (DANBURY CT) 9pts 6rbs 3ast showed flashes of greatness but in the end Jersey Express was just too much for Topballerz who roster consisted of 9 players who were making their ABA debut. Coach Kemp stated non ball movement & lack of boxing out was key to Jersey Express claiming the victory 139 to 96. These two powerhouse teams will face off again Dec29th @ Topballerz home Coach Kemp also stated it will be totally different ball game. Coach Kemp brings that John Thompson mixed with John Chaney coaching & no nonsense attitude let’s play ball style which is what u need to coach in ABA.

 HIGHLIGHTS

Andre Deflorimonte 27pts 4rbs 3ast

Mecury Fiske 20pts 3rbs 3ast

Bobby Moore 14pts 3rbs 6ast
